President's Fitness Club

President Dan Struble cordially invites you join the President's Fitness Club. The goals of the club are:

1. To have fun
2. To get in shape (or stay in shape!)
3. To develop lifelong healthy habits
4. To foster camaraderie and good old competition

Requirements:

1. Register as a member.
2. Sign in and log your activity each day when you work out 30 minutes or more, beginning the first week of fall classes. (A workout is any vigorous physical activity that a self-respecting adult is willing to log. For some, it may be a brisk walk or hike; for others, it may be a hard run, weight lifting, tennis, or friendly game of ultimate Frisbee. Croquet probably shouldn't count!)

Optional Fitness Test:

If you wish to test your mettle, we will administer the Navy Physical Readiness Test (PRT) toward the end of the semester to determine your level of fitness. The test includes a 1.5 mile run and timed sit-ups and push-ups (2 minutes each). The test is scored by age group (young folk have to do better to score well) and groups results into the following categories: outstanding, excellent, good, and satisfactory. In the Navy, if you fail twice, you are mustered out of the service. Here, we just see how well we can do.
