Why concentrate in Accounting?

Students who major in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting will be equipped with the necessary technical skills to pursue a career in this field. Upon graduation, students will be prepared to take and pass many certification exams, including the Certified Managerial Accountant exam (CMA) and the Certified Financial Management exam (CFM). Students will also be prepared for additional graduate work (the Certified Public Accountant certification requires a graduate degree).

“With classes of 4-8 in most of my accounting classes, I find myself with a lot of one-on-one time with the professors, enabling and encouraging me to ask questions and to supply answers.”

The Accounting concentration is a rigorous program designed to meet the educational requirements for professional examinations. Students may sit for the CPA exam with a Bachelor of Science degree. Requirements to take the CPA exam differ between states. In most states, students who wish to take this exam need to complete 24 hours beyond the 126 semester hours required for graduation. In effect, most State Boards of Accountancy have mandated a fifth year of education for CPA exam candidates.  To find out more about the CPA, go to the following link: http://www.cpa-exam.org/
