Art Minor

Art Minor
The art Minor offers a strong foundation in the classical methods of learning visual art-making process. In each studio course, the elements and principals of visual art are approached through OBSERVATION, INTERPRETATION, and RESPONSE. Although formalism is taught and encouraged, it is woven into the resulting art work rather than standing alone as “abstract.” By this method of learning, the faculty and student have a common source, similarly perceived, which guides the process of decision making and problem solving when creating works of art. The Art Minor compliments other academic majors through strengthening the student’s ability to communicate visually.

The courses are best taken in numerical sequence. Some courses have prerequisites. Please refer to the official Montreat College Academic Catalog.
