Allie Baumgartner (SO, Charlotte, NC) led the way for the Lady Cavs with 22 kills and two solo blocks. Brandy Deddo (FR, Almond, NC) added 30 digs, Natalie Nieman (FR, Charlotte, NC) dished out 52 assists, and Christina Redman (FR, Sanford, NC) contributed four aces. Sophomore Emily Piccirillo (Weaverville, NC) also played well for the Cavaliers. Emily added 12 digs, most of which kept play alive in the fifth game.
Allie gave us her thought on the game, “I was really proud of the way we played tonight. When we were down we fought hard to get back up, and when we were up we kept our composure. We kept playing hard the whole game; I was really proud of our team.”
Coach Mooberry gave her thoughts on the saying, “I was super excited to see the girls decide to really fight for the win. I saw some great leadership, desire and teamwork on the court. The girls stayed positive and strong despite being in a tight situation.”
The Cavs improve to 3-2 in AAC and 6-7 overall. The Lady Cavs next match is this Thursday, September 18th at home, in McAlister Gymnasium, in a 6:30pm start. This will be a Montreat College Athletics “Blue & Gold” day; ALL STUDENT ATHLETES WILL BE REQUIRED TO BE IN ATTENDANCE!
