Twenty-four students from an Outdoor Education Teaching Methods class will lead a variety of activities. The focus will be on the 4th grade science curriculum standards and the diversity of plants and animals in three different ecosystems: the forest, the field and the stream. Students will be engaged in activities that focus on experiencing the diversity of the ecosystems.
Seventh graders from Cane Creek Middle School will also travel to Montreat College’s Black Mountain campus for team building activities on Montreat’s group initiatives ropes course on October 2nd and 3rd.
Next week is “Take a Child Outdoors Week” and local supporters of the initiative and the national “No Child Left Inside” coalition will be sponsoring events like this across North Carolina next week.
