Dottie Shuman, Professor

• Teaches courses including Survey of Environmental Education Curricula, Environmental Policy and Law, Teaching Methods, Environmental Interpretation
• Developed a wilderness/science program called CLIMBE (Center for Learning and Investigation in Mountain Backcountry Ecosystems)
• Has worked in the field of Outdoor and Environmental Education since the late 1970s.  
• Some of her previous positions have included Park Ranger in Denali National Park and the C&O Canal in Maryland;  a Forest Interpretive Ranger in the Tongass National Forest in Alaska, the Wallowa-Whitman NF, and the Hells Canyon Recreation area in Oregon and Idaho; a downhill ski instructor Colorado; and Director of Environmental Education at Camp Greenkill YMCA in NY

Dave Sperry, Assisstant Professor

• Director of the Outdoor Education's outreach program, Backcountry.
• Has worked at facilities in New Hampshire, New York, and North Carolina, including working with the North Carolina Outward Bound School and the Nantahala Outdoor Center.
• His current interests include the facilitation of outdoor adventure activities and the integration of leadership and worldview studies.

 Ken Kalisch, Associate Professor

• Newest member in the Outdoor Education Department.
• Teaches courses including Philosophy of Leadership, Leadership and Group Dynamics, Wilderness Journey Practicum and Outdoor Living Skills
• Served for 30 years at Wheaton College as a teaching faculty in Christian Education and as a full-time program manager at the College’s HoneyRock campus in northern Wisconsin.
