Montreat College Theatre Series Presents “Candles in the Window”

“Candles in the Window,” written and performed by Kathleen Ann Thompson, will be presented in Gaither Chapel on Friday, November 7 at 8:00. This tenderly acted and moving play centers around two women who knew each other in Berlin before World War II and who meet again by chance in 1948. One woman, the Jewish housemaid of the Deitrich Bonhoeffer’s family before the war, guards a secret of betrayal; the other is the widow of the Special Services officer who shared Bonhoeffer’s cell. Her secret, however, is not as safe as she thinks, and this meeting between the two women creates a violent struggle between them of grief, betrayal, and guilt.

Author and performer, Dr. Kathleen Thompson, has written and performed internationally. She has been performing, directing and mentoring dance and movement theater programs to post-communist countries in Eastern Europe for the last 17 years.Presented by Belleherst Productions; tickets are $10.
