Why Major in Bible and Religion at Montreat?

Carol McMahanMontreat's Bible and Religion major prepares students to pursue graduate studies and equips them to work with children, youth, and families in a variety of organizations such as churches, community social programs, schools, and parachurch organizations both in the USA and beyond, to other cultures.

If you elect to concentrate in Biblical Scholarship, Cross-Cultural Studies, Philosophy & Worldview Studies or Ministerial Studies, you will earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree. These programs will prepare you for theological seminaries or graduate schools of religion. You will be well prepared for pastoral/teaching ministry and other church-related vocations. These concentrations require proficiency in the use of Greek New Testament by the senior year.

If you elect the Christian Education, or Youth Ministry, you can earn either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree. These concentrations equip you with theoretical and practical skills necessary for serving in a specialized area of ministry. These concentrations provide a balance of instruction in educational leadership, counseling, communication, and understanding multigenerational issues. The program includes an off-campus supervised practicum or internship.  This experience provides you with an invaluable hands-on experience in Christian Education or Youth Ministry concentrations.

You can combine this major with any number of minors to facilitate the development of a degree to meet the your particular needs and interests.
