Covering the Cost of International Education
One of the biggest obstacles in obtaining an education in the United States for an international student is cost. Some of the questions you may have are likely concerning paying for your education. Here are some questions that international students frequently ask:
- Are scholarships available for international students?
- How do I apply for financial aid?
- Can I work on campus?
Are scholarships available for international students? Yes, there are two types of scholarships available to international students at Montreat College's School of Arts and Sciences, academic and athletic.
- Academic Scholarships: cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) and TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, or ACT scores are used to determine academic awards
- Athletic Scholarsips: athletic ability, desire to succeed, personal character, and leadership potential (both on and off the court/field) are used to determine athletic awards
How do I apply for financial aid? International students are required to complete the International Student Application for Financial Aid (ISAFA). Students are awarded once they have applied, been accepted for admission, and submitted the ISAFA.
Can I work on campus? International students are permitted to work on campus if jobs are available and the student has received a social security card from the Social Security Administration authorizing employment. However, receiving a social security card does not guarantee on-campus employment.
