Montreat Baseball earns #3 AAC Preseason Ranking

With a roster billowing with underclassmen, the Cavalier baseball team seems poised for a great future. Though future success may come sooner than later according to the preseason polls. The Cavs enter the 2007 baseball season ranked 3rd in the Appalachian Athletic Conference preseason polls with 62 points. Tennessee Wesleyan earned the top pick with 80 points, while Union College edged out Montreat for 2nd with 73 points. The Cavs will depend heavily on its four seniors for leadership and experience.

Coming off of a tremendous 30-22 season last year, Coach Little’s team will attempt to add to its four consecutive 30-plus-game winning seasons. Seniors Brent Ashbaugh (OF, Tara, Ontario), Matt Braswell (LHP, Lenoir, NC), Dane Phillips (3B, Charlotte, NC), and catcher Jesse Wise (Benson, NC) will be in charge of instilling the winning tradition to the 2008 Cavalier squad.
