Baseball team sweeps Toccoa Falls, but drops two to Lee

Recap of the Lee University doubleheader: The Cavalier's first game saw Patrick Ballew (Gloucester, VA) take the mound against a very good Lee University team that would be ranked fifth in the country. Ballew would have a short stint as he was pulled after three innings. Montreat would struggle offensively as they could muster only six hits and produce no runs. Brent Ashbaugh (Tara, Ontario) would go 2 for 3 in the game. Game two starter Garrett Jones (Elwood, IN) would pitch well but would get no offensive support either as the only run produced would be a first inning homerun by Jesse Wise (Benson, NC). The final scores of the doubleheader were 0-4 and 1-10.

Game Two recap-Toccoa Falls College

Game two starter Jonathon Madera (Santiago, DR) would be asked to keep the momentum in the Cavaliers favor. Game Three recap-Toccoa Falls College

Game three starter Aaron Hughes (Murphy, NC) would pitch well but have a tight zone to throw to and did not last long as he would pitch into the third. The game would go into extra innings and Seth Blevins (Ringgold, GA) would be called on again. Blevins would pitch the final four frames again without allowing a run and only surrendering two hits. Jesse Wise (Benson, NC) would have a four hit game with a walk. Adam Speas (Rural Hall, NC) would hit the ball hard all day and would go 2 for 4 with an RBI. The hit of the day would come from Steven Hoyle (Cherryville, NC) as he laced a single to right field to score Wise from second for the 8-7 victory. Montreat’s record now stands at 6-4 with the three game sweep.
