Montreat Baseball swept in AAC doubleheader
Montreat College was swept in a conference doubleheader at Union College on Saturday by the scores of 3-6, 3-9. In the first game, John Shannon would take to the mound for the Cavaliers and would pitch effectively into the fourth before being pulled for freshmen Seth Blevins and Brian Greene. Shannon would record four strikeouts and surrender three earned runs. The Cavaliers would make things interesting in the third as they would tie the game on a RBI double by Jesse Wise that would plate Brent Ashbaugh but that would be about as close as things would come in the first game as the Bulldogs would hit three solo homeruns in the game making the difference. Chad Dawkins would have a four hit game and have stolen base and run scored.
Game two would not be any more favorable for the Cavaliers as Union would score three runs in the first inning and never look back. Garrett Jones would get the loss in the second game coming out in the fifth for Brian Greene. Senior Jesse Wise would have three hits and an RBI in the second game. Steven Hoyle would add two hits as well. Montreat College now stands at 31-14 on the season and 10-6 in conference.
