Cavaliers win in historic performance; Coach Robinson reaches 200th win!
McAlister Gymnasium witnessed a very special evening of basketball last night as Montreat defeated Warren Wilson College 98-61 in a historic and special win. The Cavaliers made history as Head Coach Bill Robinson earned his 200th career victory in front of a special crowd. Coach Robinson’s wife and children, former players, friends, and even his father, who is rarely able to make it down from New Jersey, all sat in attendance watching the clock tick down for the record win. “I can’t explain how special of a night it was,” shared a humble Coach Robinson, “to have reached this record at home, in front of family, and former players, made it all that much more special.” The Cavaliers used a balance attack as all 11 players contributed in their second home win of the season.
As if Coach Robinson’s 200th win wasn’t enough, senior guard Aaron Collazo (Asheville, NC) also had a record night as he earned his 1000th career point. Collazo almost hit another record along the way finding the bottom of the net eight times from behind the 3-point line; Montreat’s record of most 3-pointers in a game is nine. “Having Aaron reach his record on the same night as mine, really made for a wonderful night,” added Robinson. Montreat controlled the entire game as they led 56-28 at the half way mark.
The Cavaliers will take a week off from competition where they will travel to Bristol, VA as they begin AAC action against Virginia Intermont College.
