Determined, Cavaliers propel past Union in AAC match up
If the Cavaliers wanted to find a game to fire up their early season motivation, Saturday night's AAC win over Union College may just be the one. Tied at 39 points at halftime, Montreat put on a shooting clinic in the second half, finding the bottom of the net on all eight 3-point attempts. Coach Robinson's halftime speech awoke the perimeter shooting, as Montreat managed to hit only 1 of 12 3-pointers in the first half.
Montreat's early season rebounding struggles took a turn for the positive against the Bulldogs of Union College. The Cavaliers were still out-rebounded by Union, however only by 7 (27-20). The Cavs were led by five double digit scorers; Thomas Nicholson had a stellar offensive night with 20 points, while Kenard Barnett and Aaron Collazo managed to contribute 15 points each. Stephen Whiteside and MJ Njoku dished in 11 and 10 of their own.
Montreat is now 3-6 overall and 1-1 in the AAC. They hope to continue their momentum against another AAC match up- Bryan College. This home game is scheduled for 7:30pm this Tuesday, December 4th.
