"I was extremely please with our effort tonight. The intensity that everyone showed from the opening tip was very evident. Timmy Harper had a great game but we had contributions from everyone. We needed something positive tonight and we certainly got it," said Head Coach Bill Robinson.
Montreat hit the boards hard as they won the rebounding war, 34-25. They also held TWC to only 5-for-19 from the 3-point line. The Cavs shot 53% from the floor, including 9-for-17 (53%) from 3-point range. Also contributing royaly was MJ Njoku (Jr., Rochester, NY) with 18 points and seven rebounds. Sharp-shooting senior guard Aaron Collazo demonstrated why he is a member of the 1000-Career Points Club at Montreat by adding 16 of his own, including 4-for-7 from 3-point range. Thomas Nicholson was the fourth Cavalier in double digits with 13 points and six rebounds; Nicholson was a perfect 2-for-2 from the 3-point line.
To make the evening of Cavalier basketball that much more special, Montreat College retired a very special jersey Tuesday night. Tim Lewis, a star player and multiple Champion of Character honoree, was honored by having his #44 jersey hung high in the rafters of McAlister Gymnasium.
Montreat's game against Presbyterian College was canceled due to inclement weather. The game has now been rescheduled for February 7th, 7:00pm in Clinton, SC. Montreat will now put their perfect 5-0 home record on the line as they host Bluefield College this Saturday at 4:00pm. Currently, Montreat is 6-11 overall and 4-3 in the AAC.
