Montreat wins again on the road defeating Warren Wilson College

The Cavalier basketball team managed to win their second consecutive game on the road this season after their 79-66 victory over Warren Wilson College. Montreat is coming off of a bizarre win over AAC contender Milligan College. Although Coach Robinson wasn't too pleased with the overall effort against Warren Wilson, Montreat managed to climb to 8-12 for the season. "I felt our effort tonight was a little disappointing," said Robinson. Disappointed or not, Coach Robinson has to be excited about the way MJ Njoku is playing as of late. In the past four games, Njoku has come to the forefront with his leadership on the floor. For those efforts he was named this week's AAC Player of the Week. Njoku led Montreat over WWC with 21 points of 9-12 shooting.

Senior forward Kinard Barnett (Charlotte, NC) had another solid night contributing his own 14 points, while Senior guard Stephen Whiteside (Marion, NC) dished in 12 of his own.  Montreat held a 10 point lead at the halfway mark (36-26), and they managed to shoot 58% from the field and a solid 56% from the 3-point line.

They return to action this Saturday against AAC rival Virginia Intermont.  Montreat suffered a conference loss to VIC earlier this year while on the road; however, Montreat has only lost one game at McAlister this season.

"We really enjoy playing at home," said forward Kinard Barnett, "there aren't too many places in our conference that get as loud and energized as McAlister and the Montreat fans."

Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm.
