Montreat handles VIC behind Barnett's double-double

Montreat continues to provide its home crowd with great entertainment as they defeated Virginia Intermont College this weekend at McAlister Gymnasium, 93-81. The Cavs fell to VIC earlier this year on the road, but since then has been working its way toward the top of the AAC rankings. Against VIC, it was Senior forward Kinard Barnett (Charlotte, NC) that led the way for Montreat with a near triple-double; Barnett dished in 22 points and pulled down 14 rebounds; he was 7-of-8 from the free throw line and 3-of-4 from 3-point range. Barnett also handed out eight assists, and for his sensational play, he was named the Cavalier Player of the Game.

Coach Robinson's Cavaliers managed to shoot 55% from the floor, including 57% from the 3-point line (13-for-23).  They held the Cobras to only 33% shooting for the night.

MJ Njoku (14 points), Aaron Collazo (13 points), and Stephen Whiteside (11 points) also managed to score in double-digits against the Cobras (9-10).

Montreat continues to move up the AAC rankings with their three game winning streak.  Currently, the Cavaliers are tied with Milligan College in second place.  Montreat takes its winning streak on the road against two tough AAC opponents, Union College (Tuesday, Jan. 29th) and Bryan College (Saturday, Feb. 2nd).
