Seniors rock McAlister with great win over Milligan College
Coach Robinson could not have asked for a better way to send off his seniors than with the Cavaliers' five point win over AAC foe Milligan College, 83-78. With the win, Montreat receives a first round bye in the AAC tournament. "What a great way to end the regular season," exclaimed Coach Robinson, "Senior Stephen Whiteside had a career night [22 points] making two huge plays late when we were down. His three-pointer cut the lead to two. Then he stole the inbounds pass and made a lay-up to tie the game." The senior trio of Whiteside, Collazo, and Barnett combined for 51 points and 11 rebounds. Whiteside also managed to be a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Montreat shot a tremendous 93% from the line (13-for-14). "The atmosphere in McAlister was just incredible," added Robinson, "it was a standing-room-only crowd. I was so proud of our seniors tonight."
Whiteside's 22 points came from going 6-for-10 for the night and 2-for-4 from the 3-point line, including his 8 perfect free throws. Collazo and Barnett hit 16 and 13 points respectively.
The win allows the Cavaliers to have a first round bye in the AAC tournament. They will play Tennessee Wesleyan on Thursday, February 28th, 2008.
Montreat College would like to thank the Seniors once again for their loyalty and pride!
