Men's Basketball ends season; voted Champions of Character team
Coach Bill Robinson and his Cavaliers concluded their 2008 season last night at the AAC Basketball Tournament, in Bristol, TN. Montreat fell to Tennessee Wesleyan College, 67-76 in the second round. The team was lead by MJ Njoku with 28 points. Montreat struggled from the 3-point line, going 9-for-31 (29%). However, Coach Robinson and his team garnered a few accolades prior to exiting the AAC tournament. They were named the 2008 AAC Men's Basketball Champions of Character Team. This is a tremendous honor for the Cavalier team, as this is the fourth consecutive year they've earned such honor. The award is given to the team that most represents the five characteristics of the Champions of Character initiative set forth by the NAIA: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Servant Leadership, and Sportsmanship.
Individually, Aaron Collazo (Sr.) was also named to the All-Conference 2nd Team, while Kinard Barnett (Sr.) was named to the All-Conference 3rd Team and the All-Defensive Team, respectively.
