The Cavalier track teams wrapped up their regular season at the 2008 AAC Track & Field Championships held this year on the campus of Lees McCrae in Banner Elk, NC. Completing his first season as a Cavalier, Wilbourn Kosgei ends this year as the AAC Conference Champion in the 1500 meter (4:07.5) and runner-up in the 800 meter (1:56.6). King College went on to win the men's and women's team championship, while Montreat finished 5th with both the men and the women. Freshman Eric Bowers also had a solid performance in the 400 meter run (51.82) finishing 5th overall. “After looking back at our performances, I don’t know how much better we could’ve done. All our athletes never give anything than their best. Most of them weren’t pleased with their efforts, but competitors never are. I think the elevation had something to do with our sub-par times, but again, I know they worked hard this weekend,” said Coach Larios.

Running well for the women’s team was Arilicia Adkins, running her first 800m run of the season, finishing in 2:28.1.  Adkins finished in 6^th in both the 800m and the 10k.  Talisa Bishop earned two 5^th place finishes in the 10k and 5k. 

The post season preparation for the NAIA National Championships continue as Montreat has four athletes that have already punched their ticket for the big show in St. Louis, MO.  Leading the Cavaliers is Talisa Bishop’s 1:26.59, currently ranked 10^th in the nation in the half-marathon.
