Cavaliers defeat Bryan College on the road

Montreat College earned an important AAC win this weekend on the road as they handled Bryan College, 74-59. Leading the way for Montreat was last week's AAC Player of the Week, Matthew Njoku (Jr., Rochester, NY). Njoku was 8-for-13 from the floor and 4-for-8 from the free throw line for a total of 20 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Montreat shot 47% from the floor against Bryan College; the Cavaliers managed to hold Bryan to 39% shooting and an astounding 1-for-16 (6%) from the 3-point line. Kinard Barnett (Sr., Charlotte, NC) and Aaron Collazo (Sr., Asheville, NC) also found a double-digit scoring night against the Lions. Barnett had 15 points off 6-of-14 shooting, while Collazo hit 10 of his own and earned 4 steals for the night.

Leading the way for Byran College was Charlie Lytle (Fr., Tampa, FL) who managed to score 15 points.

Montreat has now improved to 10-13 and a respectable 7-5 in the tough AAC standings.  They continue conference play this Tuesday at home against Covenant College.  The game time is scheduled for 7:30pm.  All students, faculty, and staff are asked to come out to McAlister and show your team spirit by cheering on your Cavalier basketball teams.
