Men’s Soccer make it 5 consecutive wins!
Interim Head Coach Michael Combs felt that converting 2 goals out of 24 shots was “unacceptable." It only took those two goals however to seal the deal against a much improved Bluefield College, 2-1. “It's great that we are having that many chances at goal, but we do need to capitalize more and take care of the small things. Overall, it was a very tough game. We dominated possession of the ball, but Bluefield has improved greatly. Bluefield will win their share of games this season,” added Combs. It was Troy Watson, the teams’ assist leader, who found the back of the net first for the Cavaliers. Watson’s goal came unassisted in the 25th minute of the conference game. Fittingly, it was Shaka Bangura, the teams’ scoring leader, who sealed the win in the 65th minute; Shaka’s goal came assisted by his fellow countryman- Abdul Bangura.
The Cavs are at home again this Saturday against Tennessee Wesleyan, a game Coach Combs promises to be a “very tough and physical conference match-up.” The game is schedule to begin at 4:30pm, immediately following the women’s soccer match against TWC.
