Montreat men's soccer receives AAC Honors
(Montreat, NC)-November 3, 2006 ---- The Appalachian Athletic Conference has announced the 2006 Men's Soccer Awards. Montreat College is proud to announce six Cavaliers and Coach Jamath Shoffner have received awards.
Senior Sherman Gardner-(Trinidad, Tobago) received the Golden Boot Award. Freshman Howard Fisher-(Kingston, Jamaica) received Freshman of the year. Coach Jamath Shoffner was named AAC Coach of the year. Also receiving awards, AAC All Conference-Delbert Daily-(Fr. Dominica), and Sherman Gardner. Selected to the AAC All Conference 2nd team; Senior Michael Combs-(Hickory, NC) and Howard Fisher. Freshman Abdul Bangura-(Atlanta, GA) and Sophmore Chad Britts-(Clearwater, FL) was selected to the AAC All Conference 3rd team.
The 2006 men's soccer team finished in 2nd place in the AAC with a 6-1-1 record and 14-2-1 overall for the season. The Cavaliers next game will be today, Friday, November 3, in the semi-finals of the AAC Men's Soccer Tournament against King College at Camp Jordan, just outside Chattanooga, Tennessee, at 6:30 pm. With a win, the Cavaliers would advance to the Championship game of the AAC Men's Soccer Tournament, tomorrow, Saturday, November 4, at 2:00 pm. Congratulations to Coach Shoffner and the men's soccer team. Go Cavaliers!
