The Lady Cavaliers had a stellar weekend of basketball as they took home the UVA-Wise Basketball Classic Tournament. Montreat defeated both Asbury College and Kentucky Christian on the road after two tough NCAA losses. "It was great to get these wins, especially in a gym where we will revisit for a conference game," said Coach Craig Jackson, "The girls played great and we were able to get contributions from everyone on the bench as well. In both games, we led by double-digits and had two great team wins."

Montreat defeated Asbury College 75-63 and never trailed throughout the game.  The went up as much as 21 points on Asbury.  Janel Cox led all Lady Cavaliers with a great 17 point and seven assists for the game.  Chazaree Wright also starred for Montreat while dishing in 15 points of her own and 14 rebounds to earn her first double-double of the 2007 season. 

In the Kentucky Christian game, it was Wright who led Montreat with 15 points and eight rebounds.  Whitney Boone earned 13 points and 3 rebounds, while Janel Cox added 12 points, six assists, and six rebounds.  Montreat took the led with eight minutes remaining in the first half and never looked back.  They led by as many as 15 points. 

Montreat College is back in action this Tuesday, November 20^th, against North Greenville College.   Game time is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
