Lady Cavs split a pair of games over Thanksgiving Break
While most Montreat students were away feasting over turkey and stuffing, the Lady Cavs of Montreat College hit the road for a two-game tournament at Tennessee Temple University. Montreat came home with a 4-4 overall record, good enough to remain in 3rd place in the AAC standings. Chazaree Wright, a junior from New Haven, CT, had plenty to be thankful for as she led Montreat in their first game against Mount Vernon Nazarene (4-1) with a stunning 31 points. Kim Staley added 11 points for the Lady Cavs while Whitney Boone contributed 9 of her own; however, they were not able to hold off the Lady Cougars; MVN handed Montreat their fourth loss of the season, 68-62.
In the second game, the Lady Cavs played host to the Lady Eagles of the University of the Ozarks. The Lady Eagles fell to host Tennessee Temple the night before. Montreat was able to handle U of O by handing them their second straight loss of their season, 74-65. Again, the Lady Cavs are now 4-4 overall and begin conference play this week against Virginia Intermont. Coach Jackson has his ladies playing solid team basketball entering conference play.
