Lady Cavs fall to last second shot, 69-71
Chazaree Wright's fifth double-double in nine games was not enough to hold off the Lady Cobras of Virginia Intermont College. VIC's shot with 3.6 seconds remaining in overtime sealed the early season conference loss for Montreat. Once again outnumbered by another team's roster, the Lady Cavs have continued to pour out their team determination. "Any time you lose like we did, it is hard to swallow. We executed and did some good things, now it is time to bounce back and get ready for Union on Saturday," said Coach Jackson. Wright's 24 points and 12 rebounds led all scorers for the contest. Kim Staley also had a great night as she poured in 12 points of her own and had 5 rebounds.
Montreat shot 53% from the floor to VIC's 57%. The Lady Cavs found their range in the second half by hitting four of seven 3-pointers. Montreat is now 4-5 overall and will bring their talent home on December 1st as they play host to Union College at 4:00pm.
