Due to Fall Break, the Cavaliers were represented with a smaller team and no team scores were met. However, Montreat still had some great individual achievements. Running her best race of the season was freshman Elyse Gildernew (Lookout Mt, Ga) with a time of 22:45. Sr., Megan Riser had another fine performance with a 99th place finish in 21:17. Julie Hetu almost matched her best time of the season with a 24:00 run. Talisa Bishop (19:59) once again led the Lady Cavs with a 56th place finish out of 177 runners.
The men were represented by Ben Hall and Justin Edwards. As if it were not enough that the men have to run a longer race than the women (5K vs. 8K), the men were misdirected during their race and ran an estimated extra 350 meters- which equates to nearly 60-70 extra seconds. That being said, Hall and Edwards ran solid races. Ben Hall completed the longer 8,000m course in 29:30, while Justin Edwards ran a possible personal best race in 30:29.
Both teams will travel to Nashville, TN to compete in the prestigious Southeastern Classic where they will square off against many of their conference and regional competition. The race will be held at the Percy Warner Park and is scheduled to begin at 9:30am.
