The young Cavalier track team continued to perform well this weekend at the exclusive NC State Raleigh Relays. With 103 colleges and universities participating, mostly NCAA D-I teams and many professional athletes, Montreat continued its preparation for the AAC and NAIA Championships. Setting a new personal best mark in the 400m was freshman Cavalier Eric Bowers (Lancaster, Pa). Bowers ran 51.69 to finish 6th in his respected heat. This was a great improvement from last week's 53.17. Distance star Wilbourn Kosgei (Eldoret, Kenya) had another solid performance in a more tactical 5000m race, running 15:14.83 and finishing in 7th of 23 runners in his heat.

"I was so excited to see Bowers run well today.  He works as hard as any I've ever coached, so it's nice to see his efforts begin to show up.  Wilbourn ran another solid race.  He stuck to our pre-race plan... though I'm sure he would've liked to have raced faster, this performance fit in really well with his training," said Coach Larios.

Possibly the best performance of the night came by Ben Hall (Fr., Columbus, NC).  Competing in his first-ever 10,000 meters, Hall finished in 33:09.45 in a highly competitive field.  "I just continue to give God all the praise.  It's all about Him... He allows me to do this and I just want to honor Him," said Hall.

On the women's side, Arilicia Adkins (So., Seffner, FL) was not able to complete the 5000m race due to a pain in her leg.  The other Lady Cavaliers rested this weekend in preparation for next week's Asics Invitational, another high caliber track meet held on the campus of Duke University.
