“Due to the rain delay, we weren’t able to get the full ninety minutes, but we were able to get to the regulation cut-off of seventy minutes,” says Coach Warner about the shortened game.
Leading the way for Montreat was Brittanye Scott’s two strikes. Other scorers for the Lady Cavs included Laura Carlson, Shannon Olson, Amanda Solesbee, Katie Kovarik, and Lucy White, all scoring one a piece.
The Lady Cavs continued their scoring spree in Saturday's 7-1 win against Emmanuel College. Leading the way in Saturday's match was Amanda Solesbee by scoring three goals and earning two assists. On this weekend's two-game winning streak, Coach Woerner realizes the season is still early, though appreciates his girls' efforts. "Emmanuel College is a very much improved team," admits Woerner, "the score was only 2-1 at the half, and it was a tough one until the end. Though we scored seven goals, we worked really hard for them, and Emmanuel kept taking good shots all the way to the game's end. All in all, it was a good weekend trip and wonderful way to start the season earning two victories on the road."
The Lady Cavs are now 2-0 overall where they have scored 14 goals in just two games. The Lady Cavs are on the road Tuesday, August 28th against Covenant College. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00pm.
