Lady Cavs fall to AAC foe TWC, 5-1

In a highly anticipated rematch of last year’s conference match-up, Montreat once again fell to The Lady Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan College, 5-1. “It was a terrible performance for the first 25 minutes,” said Head Coach Dan Woerner. “Some costly defensive mistakes in front of our goal proved to be the difference today. I have to give credit to TWC for capitalizing on our defensive miscues… they are a good team and they showed it today. We now know the work we have to do for our next game against King College,” added Woerner.

TWC jumped out to a 1-0 lead with just two minutes into the game as the Lady Cavs had difficulty clearing a corner kick.  Within the next three minutes, the defensive unit for Montreat, which has played stellar all season, allowed TWC to score their second goal of the half.  Amanda Solesbee scored Montreat’s lone goal just before the half.

The Lady Cavs are now 5-2 overall and 1-2 in the AAC.  Coach Woerner’s ladies will now take the next six days off from competition as they regroup before they take on another tough AAC team, King College.  The game is schedule to be played in Bristol this Saturday, September 22nd at 2:00pm.
