Montreat spoiled Bryan’s homecoming party this Saturday by winning 4-0 behind Brittnye Scott’s 3 goals. “Though Brittnye and Shannon Olson had some beautiful goals, our entire team had a great game. We played strong team defense and supported one another all over the field. Everyone contributed their part which made this game very satisfying and entertaining to watch,” said Head Coach Dan Woerner. Olson put Montreat on the board first with her goal in the 18th minute of the game. Olson’s first shot attempt was blocked by Bryan’s keeper, though it rebounded directly back to Olson at which point she calmly slotted the ball in the right corner. Two minutes later, Brittnye Scott begun her scoring spree with her first goal of the day, unassisted. Scott worked her way past her defender and pushed a low ball into the left corner. Possibly the best goal of the season came from Scott within three minutes into the second half, it was kicked from 20 yards out that went over the keeper’s head, but just below the cross bar. “Those shots are very difficult to save for any keeper,” added Woerner.

Mandy Solesbee, on the verge of rewriting the Montreat lady soccer history books, tied the all-time assist record by hitting Scott with a nice thru-ball, where Brittnye beat the keeper to the ball and calmly went around her to score her third of the game.

Solesbee is now tied for both the career all-time scoring and assist record at Montreat College.  The Lady Cavs hit the road against the University of the Cumberlands this Thursday at 4:00pm.  Montreat is now 8-3-1 overall and 3-3 in AAC play.
