The Lady Cavs found their road-winning formula for this Saturday’s matchup against Spalding University as they won 3-0 and earned their 9th victory of the season. Along the way, Amanda Solesbee earned her name at the top of the Montreat record books by becoming the Lady Cavalier’s all-time scoring leader when her header found the back of the net around the 18th minute of the game. Heather Hable was credited with the assist that gave Solesbee her 47th career goal. “Today was another great win especially coming off of our loss at Cumberland this Thursday,” said Coach Woerner, “but the highlight has to be Amanda’s record-breaking goal. She has worked really hard all four years… it’s great to see her enjoy the rewards of her work.” Solesbee also netted her 48th goal later in the first half.

Shannon Olsen provided a beautiful thru cross that allowed Solesbee to earn her 48^th goal.  Solesbee then returned the favor to Heather Hable by providing her a nice cross which Hable controlled perfectly and sent the ball past the Spalding keeper.  Montreat had a few other great shots at goal, “Despite many good shots,” added Woerner, “their keeper had a variety of great saves to keep the game at 3-0.”

Montreat returns to home field advantage as they revisit AAC action against Union College this Wednesday at 2:00pm.  The Lady Cavs challenge all Cavalier teams, faculty, staff, and students to come out and support their efforts as they nearly finish out their regular season.  The only remaining home game will be this Friday against the University of the Cumberlands.
