Cavalier Softball drops doubleheader to Mars Hill College
Yesterday's doubleheader against Mars Hill College ended with two losses for the Lady Cavaliers. "Overall, we played well and were able to get our runners on base," said Coach Duvall, "though we just couldn't get them all the way around. We just aren't scoring right now." Game one of the doubleheader witnessed Montreat's Shelby English (Marion, NC) get credited with the loss, though she did manage to record five strike outs against MHC. Amy Vogel, according to Coach Duvall, played "exceptional in both games." Vogel went 1-for-2 with a walk in the 4-9 game-one loss.
Amber Summerow (Lenoir, NC) also had a solid game, according to Duvall, at second base.
In game two, it was freshman Lacy Robinson that was credited with the loss, though she did manage to record five strike outs. Montreat managed to score no runs in the 0-5 loss. Kerby Barkdoll (Fletcher, NC), Shelby English (Marion, NC), and Erin Cross (Morganton, NC) all went 1-for-3 against Mars Hill.
Montreat is back in doubleheader action this Thursday at home against Mountain State College. Game one is scheduled for 1:00pm.
