With a great freshman class and a special chemistry that has been created on the court this year, Coach Gehris has plenty to be excited about. Montreat senior Danny Bower once again proved to make a great mark as one of the AAC's leading hitters with 29 kills in both Saturday's matches, along with 14 digs. Allison Baumgartner also demonstrated great poise with 15 kills during Brevard's hard fought match. Montreat went up two games on Brevard early (30-25 and 30-23), only to lose two more tight games and the tie breaker (27-30, 27-30, and 9-15). Other leaders in the Brevard match were setters Lyndsey Wall (37 assists) and Emily Piccirillo (21 assists). Defensively, the Lady Cavs were led by two senior stars Jessica Huntley, with 19 digs, and Stephanie Hosack, with 18 digs against a strong Brevard front row.
Earlier in the day, Montreat took Catawba Valley Community College in three straight games (30-13, 30-8, and 30-11). Senior Jessica Huntley played stellar defense in that match as well with 14 digs.
