Montreat Volleyball defeats Brenau Univ. in 3 straight games!
It seems as though the two day rest period Coach Gehris offered her ladies may have served the Montreat volleyball team well, as they defeated Brenau University this Saturday in three straight games. "Today's match was a great team effort," boasted Head Coach Leslie Gehris, "we had our freshmen step up and play some great roles today... the leadership of our seniors was stellar as well." The Lady Cavs sent Brenau University home in a three game match, 30-19, 30-14, and 30-24. Leading the offense was Danny Bowers and Allison Baumgartner, recording 15 and 16 kills apiece against the Lady Tigers. Baumgartner also recorded 3 solo blocks for the match. Jessica Huntley recorded 12 digs against Brenau while senior Stephanie Hosack found 15 of her own. Lyndsay Wall and Emily Piccirillo were accurate all night with their assists as they added 33 and 20 to their season's stats.
One of Gehris' freshmen that stepped up this Saturday was Alysa Koester who earned 9 kills for the night. "Again, this was a great team effort. I hope the girls can take some confidence from this match and have it carry over to our next conference match against King College," added Gehris.
Montreat plays King College this Tuesday at 6:30pm. All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to come out to McAlister and show King College the amazing support of the Montreat fans!
