Softball team splits with Bluefield College
The Montreat College softball team split a doubleheader with the Lady Rams of Bluefield College today, 2-3, and 11-5. Bluefield scored and sealed the win in game one with a solid hit in the seventh inning. Game two however witnessed the Lady Cavaliers' bats come to life with the help of Haven Payne (Sr., Canton, NC). Payne went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer which ignited a barrage of hitting. Amber Summerow (Jr., Lenoir, NC) went 2-for-4 also, hitting the second Lady Cavalier homerun of the game. Montreat is now 2-4 in the AAC race, just three games back out of first place.
They continue conference play this weekend by taking on the AAC's top team, Milligan College, in a home doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for 1pm.
