Cavalier golf inks talented and promising Joe Balliet
After winning last year's NAIA Region XII championship with the Lady Cavalier golf team, Coach David Pennell is wasting no time in poising his men's team to go after the same title. Coach Pennell and Montreat College are proud to announce the signing of James Island High School star, Joe Balliet. Balliet hails from Charleston, SC, and will bring his 3.7 handicap and 76 stroke average to Montreat this upcoming fall. "Joe's a great addition for us," says Coach Pennell, "he's demonstrated great leadership as his team's captain and most valuable player. I believe he has tremendous promise, as well as a great shot at a state championship run in his final year."
Balliet began golfing at the early age of five years old. He not only brings a great work ethic and passion for the game of golf, but he will also bring great academic leadership as well; he currently holds a 3.1 gpa.
