The Lady Cavalier Softball Team dropped a tough doubleheader to UVA-Wise yesterday at the Roxy Hines Softball Complex. Montreat fell in the first game 8-0. "We had trouble getting baserunners in game one. We also struggled defensively with some key errors," said Coach Duvall. Haven Payne (Sr., Canton, NC) went 1-for-3 in game one. In game two, Montreat fell 4-10. Payne once again had a solid day at the plate going 2-for-2.

"We hit the ball much better in the second game, especially in the early innings.  But, again we had some crucial errors that we could not make up for in the end," added Duvall.

Also hitting well in game two was Brittany Burns (Sr., Charlotte, NC) and Amber Summerow (Jr., Lenoir, NC).  Burns went 3-for-4 while Summerow hit 2-for-3, respectively.

Montreat is now 1-3 in AAC play and will take on Tennessee Wesleyan this Saturday.
