Softball wins three games to roll in the AAC Tournament; only three teams remain!

The Lady Cavaliers (#9) are putting on a great display of determination, as they are now one of the final three teams remaining in the AAC Softball Tournament. “I don’t know what’s in the water over here in Tennessee,” said Head Coach Katie Duvall, “but I like it very much.” Coach Duvall’s girls won three more games yesterday to reach the semi-finals. They defeated Bluefield 6-1, for the second time in the tournament, and in yesterday’s second game, defeated Virginia Intermont, 6-2. Both games had great pitching by Haven Payne and Shelby English. In the third and final game of the night, Montreat defeated Tennessee Wesleyan 6-3 to move into the semi-final game.

In the game against Bluefield, Mary Montgomery went 2-for-5, while teammates Kirby Barkdoll and Amber Summerow went 4-for-5 and 2-for-5, respectively.

Against Virginia Intermont it was Eric Cross and Haven Payne that led Montreat College at the plate, both going 2-for-3 in the second game.

And against Tennessee Welseyan, it was Erin Cross and Amy Vogel who both went 2-for-4 in the late game.  It was Lacy Robinson that took the mound and pitched another stellar game for the Lady Cavaliers.

Montreat now plays #1 seed Milligan College for the right to play Union College (#3) for the AAC Championship trophy.  Montreat and Milligan square off at noon today.
