An Overview
Student Eligibility
To receive student financial aid, there are various eligibility requirements that must be met. The student is required to:
- Have financial need
- Have a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a regular student
- Be a U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Have a valid Social Security Number
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
- Register for selective service, if required
- Not be in default on a federal student loan or owe an overpayment on a federal student grant
- Fill out and sign the statement of education purpose and non-default on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) yearly
- Fill out and sign the Montreat College Financial Aid Application Yearly
Communication with Financial Aid:
The most efficient method of contact for the financial aid office is email. Please make sure we have your current email address to make sure you receive the best service from our office. Once you are a student, all official communication will go to your Montreat email address, and you will be responsible for checking it regularly.
Financial Need:
Most students' financial aid funds are awarded based on financial need. The exception to this is unsubsidized Stafford Loans.
Your Account:
The Accounting Office (where all your funding will be deposited) is located at the Charlotte Campus.

- Account statements
- Balances owed
- Receiving funds from your account
- Receiving a Receipt for Company Reimbursement
- Making sure loan disbursements have posted to your account
