Hear why others transferred to Montreat College
Jamie Swinson
I am a junior transfer student from Morganton, NC. I decided to come to Montreat my fall semester of my junior year at my previous college. It was a difficult decision for me because I had spent two and a half years at that college, and I was heavily involved in numerous activities, including residence life, leadership programs, volunteer groups, and so on. My life was at that college, but the most important thing was missing: a Christ-centered environment. It is a Presbyterian affiliated college, but faith tends to only be a small aspect of the college, not its foundation. In the fall of my junior year, this issue became stronger and more intense … I began to consider and finally decided on transferring to Montreat. As a high school senior I had wanted to come here to Montreat, but the financial aid wasn’t available, but I have seen how God has had His hand in my education. He provided the money this second time around, and after my experiences at the previous college, I truly see what a blessing it is to be in a Christ-centered environment. Not to say that Montreat is perfect, but I feel that the administration, faculty, and staff at least try to make sure faith is integrated and central in life here on campus. It was hard to transfer in as a junior but the faculty and registrar’s office have really worked with me—I’ll even get to graduate a semester early! |
