From the Chaplain

I first came to Montreat College as a student in 1995 from a small rural town in New Hampshire. I grew up in the church, but I never really encountered Jesus until I met him face to face in college. For many people, college years create space and time for you to finally make your faith your own. It is the place where God reminds you that you cannot live on the faith of your parents, your church or your culture forever. It is my role to walk beside you as you answer the questions God will inevitably be asking you while you are here. In the context of dorm life you will learn about the struggle and the blessings of living in community. In outreach to the poor and displaced you will learn about God’s heart for the outsider and the alien. In worship you will discover the pleasure of reflecting the glory of God. In academics you will allow God to transform your mind and in the beautiful surroundings of the Blue Ridge Mountains you will be continually reminded that we serve an incredibly imaginative Creator. Made in the image of a relational God, each of us longs to find a place in the world were we can connect with others. It is my prayer that God will lead you to accept the invitation to join the Montreat College community. Here you will find a daily challenge to both integrate faith and learning and respond to the call of following after Jesus Christ with all of your heart, all of your soul and all of your strength.
