Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management
Herb holds a BA from Seattle Pacific University, MA from Western Oregon University, and EdD from Nova Southeastern University, with a concentration in Higher Education Leadership. After 12 years of successful high school teaching and coaching in Oregon and Washington, Herb began a second career in higher education and has served at Simpson University, in California; LeTourneau University, in Texas; Edinboro University of Pennsylvania; Angelo State University, in Texas, and Cox College in Missouri. Herb is very proud to be part of Montreat College, with its Christ-centered, student-focused, and service-driven mission.
Having spent much of his life in the mountains of the western US, Herb is thrilled to be living in the mountains of North Carolina. One of his favorite things to do is spending time on the Blue Ridge Parkway with his wife Renae, finding places to enjoy God’s creation by hiking, mountain biking, or simply taking in the incredible views. Herb is also busy writing a book, Connecting the Pieces: Enrollment Management Philosophy, Planning, and Performance.
