BASIC FUNCTION:
The Student Payroll Specialist is responsible for all student work activities on campus including: administration, payroll, related regulatory compliance, and new student worker orientation.

This position is a permanent, non-benefited .70 FTE position (28 hour work week).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Day-to-day Student Payroll Functions and Customer Service:
- Prepare payroll for all students.
- Prepare monthly student payroll, taxes and student account deposit integration files, to be reviewed and approved by Manager of Payroll and Benefits prior to files being posted in general ledger by Controller.
- Prepare any mandatory student payroll government and IPED related reports (e.g. Federal Work Study).
- Student worker orientation.
- Verify all employee benefit invoices, code and submit to Manager, Payroll and Benefits for review prior to A/P payment processing.
- Initiate all student worker background checks and code according by type of hire.
- Provide Manager of Payroll and Benefits/VP of Finance and Admin with budget vs. actual student worker data for review and approval each month prior to submitting student payroll.
- Issue student worker W-2’s.
- Provide assistance to and back-up for the Manager of Payroll and Benefits as needed, after cross training.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of payroll processing, with experience using CBiz/Millenium-PayEntry software applications a plus.
Be self-directed, innovative, detail-oriented, and able to keep confidences.
Accurate, efficient, and able to multi-task in a busy office environment.
Proficient in Excel, database applications and Microsoft Word.
Normally, a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year’s payroll processing experience is required.
