Summary

The Campus Director bears the primary responsibility for managing the respective campus for Montreat College’s School for Professional and Adult Studies (SPAS), including staffing, budgeting, advising and general administration of the campus.

Qualifications

  • Master’s in higher education administration or in an academic discipline congruent with the programs offered at Montreat College School of Professional and Adult Studies.
  • Experience in higher education, both instruction and administration.
  • Experience managing budgets and employees, coordinating resources, and directing the efforts of a diverse staff.
  • Excellent skills in project management, conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with campus faculty, staff, and other college departments to support the administrative processes of the adult program.
  • Entrepreneurial qualities and the ability to identify and collaborate with others on new programs and opportunities for the School of Professional and Adult Studies.
  • Excellent customer service skills and an appreciation for the professional adult student.
  • Exemplary interpersonal, communication skills and a reputation for integrity. Able to serve as a role model for students and staff by demonstrating an active Christian faith in personal example and in work-related responsibilities.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Asheville Director are to:

  • Monitor staff training and development and oversee the employee evaluation process.
  • Participate as part of the Leadership team and to assist the Vice President of Adult Studies with planning and implementing programs, processes, and services as they relate to the overall success of the campus and the adult program.
  • Ensure competency of services, systems, policies and procedures at the campus.
  • Lead in the ongoing and annual review of the campus’s services and systems, on behalf of the college and in collaboration with the college’s formal partner(s).
  • Assess staffing needs, to hire and train new staff members, and to recommend promotion and professional development for the Asheville staff.
  • Counsel students and/or faculty as appropriate on issues such as grading, study group problems, classroom discipline, serving as the campus designee of the Vice President of Adult Studies and Special Services.
  • Develop and propose annually a reasonable Campus budget and to oversee and authorize all Campus expenditures.
  • Assist Campus staff members in developing appropriate goals for their self-evaluations, and to encourage professional growth by communicating professional growth opportunities and by dispersing professional growth funds for the division.
  • Work in collaboration with the Charlotte Regional Director on class call decisions, class representative meetings, new SPAS initiatives and other matters of mutual interest.
  • Assist student services with managing cohorts from class start to graduation, to mediate student and study group grievances.
  • Act as liaison with landlord/property management for improvements, expansion plans, and maintenance of the Asheville Campus.
  • Promote Montreat College visibility in the region.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings as needed on all other Montreat College campuses.
  • Work in collaboration with the Registrar and Dean of Admissions on student registration and admissions issues.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Adult Studies.

 


Supervision: Reports directly to the Vice President for Adult Studies
Rank and Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Start Date: July 1, 2009 or as soon as possible thereafter.
