Each school will present selections they have prepared ahead of time, and Montreat College’s Ambassadors choir will sing as an interlude. For the finale, the high school students from all three schools will perform the following selections together: Haydn’s “The Heavens Are Telling,” “For the Beauty of the Earth” by John Rutter, and a Nigerian Folk Song, “Dide ta Deo” by Uzee Brown, Jr.
Dr. Rob Boer, Director of the Ambassadors and Assistant Professor of Music at Montreat College says, “I’m excited that we have multiple choirs here for this event. In my high school choral experience, my most memorable experiences were festivals like this, where we were able to sing for the other choirs, and then sing with them. The experience of singing with a choir that’s three or four times bigger than yours is incredible. We share repertoire ideas, approaches to choral sound, rehearsal techniques, and more in a non-competitive environment. We all learn from each other and grow from a day together.”
Montreat College is a Christ-centered liberal arts institution with its main campus for four-year traditional students in Montreat.
