Mr. Weldner’s work can also be seen among the art of 28 professional artists from Western North Carolina at the Asheville Gallery of Art, where he serves as president. Fine Arts Departments Chair Jim Southerland’s work has also been featured in the gallery.
Weldner’s digital art work is a concentration of images in the North Carolina mountains and along the coast. Each finished print includes a combination of at least three photographs, which are manipulated, altered, and woven together on the computer using Photoshop. Attention is paid to the composition, negative area, color, texture and the work is printed on professional matt paper using pigment inks for longevity.
The students of Weldner’s AR-246 class have their exhibit, “Exposed,” on display in the Hamilton Gallery from now through December 14. The Hamilton Gallery is located on the mezzanine level of the L. Nelson Bell Library; exhibit hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
