Outdoor Education Adventure Conference at Montreat College
More than 100 students and faculty from local colleges and universities that offer Outdoor Programs including Brevard College, Warren Wilson College, Western Carolina University, Southwestern Community College, Southern Adventist University, North Greenville University and Maryville College, along with professionals from across the Outdoor Business spectrum gathered at Montreat College for the 16th Adventure Education Conference today. Whitney Montgomery, Executive Director of the North Carolina Outward Bound School, gave the conference’s keynote address in the historic Manor House on the Montreat College In the Oaks campus. Conference participants were able to attend a variety of workshops including “The Impact of Crowding on Outdoor Recreation” and “Voice of the Rivers: Savannah River Expedition” as well as browse the offerings of local exhibitors during the one-day event.
Montreat College is a Christ-centered liberal arts institution with its main campus for four-year traditional students in Montreat. The accelerated School of Professional and Adult Studies program has campuses in Asheville, Charlotte, and Black Mountain, with courses being taught in Cherokee, Murphy and other NC locations.
