Men's basketball keep it rolling; win big over Bryan College

Much like the Lady Cavaliers’ game just hours before, the men’s basketball team sent Bryan College back to Tennessee with a tough 87-75 loss. Coach Robinson’s men held a slight 42-41 advantage at the halfway mark, though playing great disciplined basketball allowed Montreat to outscore Bryan 45-34 in the second half. Montreat’s Aaron Collazo, who recently surpassed his 1000th career point, dished in 20 points, five assists, and four rebounds. Thomas Nicholson and MJ Njoku provided great contribution with 17 and 16 points of their own. Montreat’s momentum is continuing to roll as they are now 4-6 overall, but most importantly 2-1 against AAC teams. The Cavaliers played great disciplined basketball as they only sent Bryan to the free throw line four times the entire game.

Montreat shot a stellar 57% from the floor behind Collazo’s 4 of 7 3-pointers and Njoku’s 7 of 9 field goals.  Great sharp shooting by Montreat's young guns, sophomores Matthew Pride and Timothy Harper also helped elevate the Cavaliers shooting percentage.  Pride had eight points behind his 4 for 4 shooting, and Harper's own eight points came behind his 4 of 7, two of which were 3-pointers.

The Cavaliers hope to keep their momentum alive as they travel to Lookout Mt, GA, this Saturday to play the Scots of Covenant College (4-7, 1-2).
