Requirements for First-Time Freshmen

Standard Admission requirements include a 2.75 (B-) minimum GPA (unweighted) and a 1000 (combined)Critical Reading and Math sections) or 21 ACT (Composite) score.

Conditional Admission requirements include a 2.25 minimum GPA (unweighted), 850 SAT (combined Critical Reading and Math sections) or 18 ACT (Composite) score, and an interview with the Director of Admissions.

Students who do not meet either of these standards will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
In addition to your application, we will need from you:
- A non-refundable $30 application fee. This fee is waived for any student who visits campus. Click here to schedule your individual visit!
- A letter of recommendation from your high school guidance counselor or teacher, employer, pastor or youth minister. (Optional for any student who meets our minimum admissions requirements)
- An official transcript of high school credits indicating class rank and grade point average.
High school core class requirements should include four years of English, three years of science, three years of social studies, three years of math (Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry), and at least one year of a foreign language.
- An official SAT or ACT test score report.
- An essay about yourself and what you will add to our campus. How will you enhance the quality and spirit of a Christ-centered, student-focused, service-driven school like Montreat?
This essay should be between two paragraphs and one page long. Since it's an important part of your application, your essay should have correct spelling and punctuation. For content, you may want to share about leadership skills, your school spirit, desire to learn new things, desire for service and/or ministry, etc. If you choose to apply online, you can include your essay in the personal statement section of the application.
